In the anniversary year 2022, which marks the 200th anniversary of Mendel’s birth, the programme will focus on the contribution of Mendel’s versatile personality and his scientific work in the context of Mendel and the world.
The world-renowned scientist and founder of genetics will be introduced on 2 and 3 November 2022 with lectures and an accompanying programme for the public. The programme of lectures will focus on Mendel’s contacts during and after his lifetime, the reception of Mendel’s personality and his work, the reception and misuse of Mendel within 20th century ideologies, and translations of Mendel’s work. Scholars from Austria and other countries will also be invited to participate in the program and to give lectures.
As part of the accompanying programmes, the Mendel Museum is planning various cultural events (concerts, guided tours) that will provide favourable conditions for networking with other institutions.
